The point being is, what makes you the person you are?

For instance, it may be that the typical nursing student who does well in the program doesn't have to work a forty or more hour work week, but instead only works five to eight hours per week. It is in this context that the person or people who crunch the data from these tests determine the characteristics of the typical nursing student. Whatever the type of nursing student may be, one thing is definite, only you can determine what type of student you are. A good example of the type of assessment that is given on the Nursing Entrance Test are the standardized personality test that the government workers must take, like the civil service tests. So, don't be nervous when you are answering the questions. Nothing is going to be done with your information other than entering it into a very impersonal data base. Another suggestion is to find out ahead of time what kind of learner you are. The internet offers many free learning style tests. It is actually quite fun. What works for one individual when he is the first to sell a certain product a certain way may not work just six months later when he has sold his idea to 40,000 other marketers, and they all begin to promote it. Traffic generation tactics are significantly different than they were just a year ago, and hardly resemble profitable strategies three years ago.

These 6 Steps are simply the bare-bones skeleton of what has to happen for your online business to be successful. They are foundational, and although the implementation strategies are different today than several years ago, the basic steps remain the same.

  1. Develop or discover a product. You must find a product that meets today's needs. A 5 year old product whose resell rights you can buy for a dollar or get for free probably won't meet the needs of today's consumers. You must be willing to pay for the rights to sell a current , useful product, or become an affiliate marketer, where you promote a popular product, and in exchange are paid a percentage of the income from the sale.

  2. Determine how the potential customers can view your product and see a sales presentation. If you develop your own product or purchase the rights to sell someone else's, you will need a website. A few tips here: Rather than accept free web hosting, purchase your own domain name and pay to have your domain name and web site hosted by a professional web hosting company with a reputable history. If your free web hosting company goes bankrupt, they generally take your fledgling business with them.

  3. Once you have your web site up and running, unless you are using an affiliate program that supplies a sales page, you must develop a sales script and web copy. Aside from your web hosting decision, this is probably the most important thing you can do. You may be tempted at first to write a sales pitch on your own, but unless you already have a lot of experience in the offline market writing effective sales letters, you need to, absolutely must, invest in a few courses on web copywriting. Be willing to spend some money upfront on learning this skill. Too many marketers try to wing it in this area and after a few months of losing money online, finally break down and purchase the knowledge to write a good sales pitch. Do it the other way around—buy the knowledge first, and start making sales from the beginning. Customers will not buy just because you have a web site---they buy from the web site that does the best job of convincing them it has the best product for their need.

  4. You must develop a traffic source that works. When you first begin, you may be on a shoestring, and that is OK. Assuming you have been willing to spend some money on sales letter writing and a decent web host, you may be able to skimp in the traffic arena for awhile, if you have plenty of time. If you do not have money to advertise, nor time to seek out low cost advertising, you probably shouldn't be attempting an online business. If you do choose to go the low-cost route—know two things up front—the returns are really low and you will spend vast amounts of time on traffic generation. Once you begin to make sales, you must invest your income in paid forms of traffic generation. If you do not, you will run out of enthusiasm for generating the free traffic, and without reinvesting the income from your first sales into advertising, you are sure to fail. Good sources of low-cost, but time consuming traffic are: writing articles and posting them to article directories, low cost classified ads, and ezine ads. You may see hyped-up ads for thousands or visitors for a low cost or millions of banner ads for another reasonable price—both of these methods may have worked 2 years ago, but they are a sure waste today.

  5. Once you begin to get traffic to your online business site, you must keep detailed records of where the traffic comes from, and what percentage of visitors from each source are purchasing your product. If you have visitors that cost you $50 per hundred to come to your web site, but on average they only purchase $25 per hundred visitors, the income may feel good, but you are not profitable, and are losing money. By tracking your expenses on each type of visitor and by tracking your revenue on the same sources of visitors, you can determine which campaigns need changes or need to be eliminated and which need to be increased in intensity.

  6. By following this pattern of steps, and by keeping diligent records (there is plenty of good web site tracking software on the market that can help you do that), you can develop a profitable online business. Again, it will not happen overnight, and you will not get rich quick. However, if you build a solid online business with a solid foundation, and are willing to spend some money learning how to do it right, you really can become successful in business online.

People are joining these companies because of the earning potential. Most companies realize the growing popularity and were going all out to attract new members.

I have understood why most network marketing companies fail because of two simple reasons. Sad to say, most companies have designed their compensation only to benefit those who are at the top of the organization and not for the masses. Members who join later will eventually leave and spread negative comments about network marketing simply because they cannot succeed.

The second reason which I noticed was companies were not providing sufficient support to their new members. The new members have to struggle and work their way through trial and error. They are new to network marketing and most of them don't know how progress or even get started. Adequate training and support is needed to help them members grow and I personally feel that it is a must in any network marketing companies. A lack of support will result in a high percentage of members dropping out. Similarly, those that dropped out tend to spread negative comments and thus gave the networking companies a bad name.

These are the two reasons which I feel was why people have a bad impression about network marketing companies. A poorly designed compensation plan which only benefits the people at the top and the lack of support to new members, both is probably the cause of the bad impression.

Then again, there are legitimate and honest network marketing companies out there. Statistics shows that 3% of companies in the network marketing industry succeed and the 97% that failed was probably because of either one of the reason I discussed earlier. If you are skeptical about network marketing, I hope this article clarify some of your doubts and improve you understanding about why people have a bad impression about network marketing.

One of the biggest challenges a work at home mom faces is finding time to work on her business, with so many other important things in her busy schedule. You know it's important to find time to work on your business and spend quality time with your children.

Start by writing a business and marketing plan. Then set smart goals, goals that are specific, measurable, action oriented, realistic and time based. Use your calendar and a time blocking technique to determine when you will work on your business. Fill in all your family and personal obligations. You will usually find you have blocks of time that aren't committed and can set these times for your business.

Try these tips for fitting your business into your life:

Delegating. Can someone else do that? Your children can help with all sorts of things around the house and even in your business. If your husband is a whiz at something, delegate that job to him!

Out sourcing or hiring a professional. Hire someone else to do the tasks that you dislike doing and consequently might put them off. Things you are not as good or skilled at or tasks that overwhelm you would be better done by someone else. Someone else might enjoy doing something that you find mundane and this will free up your time for more important things.

Automate Tasks. Anything that can be automated makes more sense than doing it manually. For example if you write the same letter or e-mail over and over again, save a master copy and reused it. Use an auto responder to follow up with customers or clients.

Early Bird. If you are an early riser you can schedule time to work before your children and family get up in the morning.

Quiet Times. Schedule a block of work time for when your child generally takes a nap, attends school or after they go to sleep at night.

Share. Arrange for your husband to spend time with the children during set time blocks during the week. Your children will love their special time with Daddy.

Trade child care. Swap child care with another work at home or stay at home Mom with similar aged children. This makes it a fun play date for your children while giving you an couple of uninterrupted hours to work.

Play time. Even young children can amuse quietly themselves for a period of time. Depending on their age, set a timer for 10 to 20 minutes and while you work you child can play. Your children will quickly learn that once the timer goes off it's okay to interrupt you.

Create a deadline in which you want certain things done, even setting a false deadline will work wonders in motivating you to accomplish tasks.

Watch out for time wasters, e-mail and surfing the net can be the two big ones if you work online. Friends who drop by unexpectedly for long coffee klatches and getting caught up in weekly TV dramas are a couple of other work at home time wasters. Worrying about keeping your home spotless can be another time waster. When they grow up your children won't remember how clean the house was but they will remember the time you spent with them.

Don't sweat the small stuff! Yes, it's actually all small stuff! Working at home means you can be flexible and work around your family's schedule as long as you set goals and take action.

Why Do You Have a Job? Five False Beliefs that Lead People into Jobs they Hate

There are five false beliefs that lead people into jobs they hate. Before you change your job, company, or career, you need to examine these false beliefs.

If you find yourself stuck in a job that you don't enjoy or in a company that isn't fun to work for, the first step to making a change is asking yourself, "How did I get here?" Your being here at this time in your life is not a random event. You have made choices and decisions along the way to get here. Your individual journey has led you to this exact point. And you are not broken. You don't need to be fixed. No one is to blame. You have made choices based upon beliefs that you have held. And beliefs are nothing more than thought habits. They are ideas that you have thought over and over again until they became a belief. Like an old record, you may be stuck in a groove or a belief that no longer works for you.

So, before you decide to leave your job or company or make any change, it is a valuable exercise to pause for a moment and examine your beliefs. If you don't take the time to do this, you will make choices based upon old beliefs and end up in the same place.

In working with my coaching clients, I find that there are five key beliefs that lead people into a job that does not bring them joy. I will outline them here.

Belief #1: Money: Getting a corporate job is the best way to make money. We are all conditioned to believe that having a job is the best way to make money by our parents, teachers, and many well-meaning adults. There is a systemic belief in our society that a job is the best path to wealth. It is simply not true. You will never make significant wealth (of the retire early, be completely financially free, lack of money doesn't guide my decisions type of wealth) by going to a 9 to 5 job.

I often read stories in mainstream magazines of people who retire early by having two income earners in the family, living extremely frugally, and saving almost all of their earnings for retirement. Not a really fun way to live in my estimation!

I would rather earn lots of money doing what I love on my own time schedule and not waiting until I retire to have fun. Can I do this in a regular job? I couldn't. I was making a six-figure income working insane hours and traveling constantly. I made less money early in my career doing the 8:30 to 5:30 grind but I wasn't having any fun and I spent every dollar that I earned.

Why can't you good make money in a job? First, only the top echelon of workers make over $100,000. The system is set up this way - as a pyramid. The corporate pyramid has lots of low-paid worker bees and only a few high-paid executives. Second, you are taxed heavily on earned income. The tax system is designed to benefit corporations. Third, you don't get any residual income - once you stop working, the dollars stop coming. You aren't building up any passive income streams. You may design a product or software for your company - but the company gets the passive or residual income from your efforts.

Equity = wealth. All equity goes to the shareholders. It is great to work in a company that offers its employees an ownership stake - in fact I wouldn't consider working for one that doesn't. The only downside is that you don't have control of most of the decisions being made. I know many people who have been downsized out of tech companies because the leadership team made bad decisions.

Belief #2: Responsibility: I should get a corporate job - it is what a responsible adult does. Once again, this is a belief that is drummed into you early. It goes something like this - study hard in school, get good grades, get into a good college, maybe get a graduate degree, get a prestigious job and the money and success will flow to you. This is the path that responsible people choose.

I choose this path. Did well in school, B.A. from University of Virginia, MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Money and success did flow to me. But I was overworked, uninspired and getting burned out and depressed. Is being at work all the time, getting burned out, and depressed what a responsible adult does? I don't think so! Yes, I have a responsibility to provide for my family - but if there is a way that I can do this without sacrificing my sacred family time and peace of mind - don't I have a responsibility to follow that path?

Belief #3: Importance: If I get a high-paying job and an impressive title, I will be important. Interview 100 successful people and find if money and title really made them feel important inside. You might find 1 or 2 who will say yes, but this is a false belief. We are important because we are here.

We all have the same amount of source energy inside of us. Call it "God", or "energy" or "goodness" - whatever resonates with you. I believe that as physical beings, we are on the leading edge of consciousness and our job is to create. We create by being in touch with our source and choosing actions in alignment with our joy. The only thing that you will take with you when you cross over into the spiritual world is your expansion of consciousness. You will not take any physical possession or title or award. You will only take your soul and the wisdom it has acquired during this physical manifestation.

Belief #5: Security: I will be secure if I have a good-paying job. If you know anyone that has been fired, laid-off, or downsized you know that this is not true. Yet, so many of us want to play it safe. We let our fears guide our decisions rather than taking risks and following our bliss. When you have a job, you are at the mercy of your employer. You may be laid-off with your entire department or fired because a superior doesn't like you. It will be random and out of your control. True security comes from being your own boss.

Belief #4: Enjoyment: I will enjoy working in the corporate world. I chose a job in strategy consulting because I was bored with all of my other jobs - both in the public and private sectors. I thought - now this is something that will challenge me. To get a job in consulting I needed to get an MBA - so I did. But I did not enjoy strategy consulting. It was intellectually challenging but I didn't enjoy the corporate environment. It seemed too artificial - not real. I couldn't be my true self - I could only reveal the smart, logical and masculine part. I wasn't having fun putting on my corporate game face and playing the game. It is possible to enjoy a corporate job if the work and environment are in alignment with your true calling. Unfortunately, it is rare.

Take a moment to reflect upon the above beliefs. How did you choose a corporate job? Were you following a belief or several beliefs? Or were you following your heart and intuition? Do you still have this belief or have your beliefs changed but your circumstances not changed?

Before you take action, work on replacing your old beliefs with new, positive ones that serve you better. Meditation, journaling, and positive affirmations are good ways to control your belief system.
