How to Start your Own Business Online

Description:

You've heard about internet business and want to get into some of that action. What you need to know and do before taking the plunge.

Content:

How do you get in on some of the action on the internet? What you should know before taking the plunge:

1) What are you interested in? Look online to see if this is a popular topic. For the purpose of this article, we’ll take the example of online dating. How many times is this topic searched online?

2) Find out about online dating businesses online. Look at dating agencies. For other businesses, look at for example affiliate marketing programs, how many people have already built sites based on them. What does it take to be an affiliate of these programs? How much commission can you get? A good place to check would be Clickbank’s marketplace.

3) You are now sure you want to get into a certain business. What next? Check out web hosting companies. Get all the information you need on hosting. Choose one that meets your needs and is within your budget. There’s no need to get a costly one. You can now get web hosting for as little as $7 a month with most web hosting companies. Email the companies you think you might consider hosting your site with. If they take several weeks to reply it’s possible that you’re going to get really bad service from them. You’d best stick with those who want your business.

4) Choose a good domain name. Domain names are part of the sales pitch of your website. A good domain names reflects what the site is about. There’s no point in putting your name as a domain when you’re not part of the product list. Yes, most articles tell you to sell brand YOU. What they mean is promoting yourself, by writing articles and blogs about your website.

5) Get traffic to your website. Check out how to get good advertising and how to generate traffic. Launch ads on Google and/ or Yahoo advertising. These two are searched on more often than other search engines.

6) Find out what tools you should add to your website to generate traffic. Features like ‘bookmark this site’, ‘email this to a friend’ help to generate traffic. Work hard on getting the traffic to your site as traffic is half the work done.

7) Make sure to get an affiliate link scrambler. This makes sure that people are unaware they are clicking on an affiliate link. Often, people tend to close the link if they know they’re being sent to an affiliate site. Scrambling the link ensures you still get your money. Scrambling affiliate link also protects you from affiliate link thefts so that people can’t replace their hop links with yours.

The key to a successful internet business is being able to get the visitors to your site and to keep them coming. You will learn more about this later.

Remember to constantly work at your website to keep those visitors coming back.

To learn about how to keep the visitors coming back to your site, read my next article, You’ve Set Up An Online Business. What’s next?

Don't Be The Belgian Chef a Tale of a Plunge Into the Abyss

At the top of the kitchen career chain lies the Executive Chef position. The executive chef is the general of the kitchen troops, overseeing and deploying the kitchen staff in it's day-to-day operations. Not all chefs aspire to this position, as the executive chef doesn't actually have time to cook. And since the position is one of management rather than engaging in the culinary arts, the position of executive chef is one that you only have when your operation is so big that you really need one!

Others see the executive chef career as the opportunity to apply their skills to a greater canvas. Free from stirring the sauce or arranging the rosettes, the executive chef gets to be the brains of the kitchen and plan the meals as a chess player plans an attack.

Chefs, being an artistic profession, may have some temperament issues to go alongside their talent. With one chef, this is unnoticeable, but with a staff of twenty chefs with a leadership hierarchy, the personal differences tend to come out. The executive chef will have to manage around any conflicts that develop, and more importantly not be a source of conflict themselves. Just how out of control can a chef's behavior get? Here we will take a look at one career which highlights the answer to just that question:

"The Belgian Chef" was a televised cooking show that ran for three and a half seasons on cable channels in New England, from the Fall of 1994 through March of 1996. This was well before the days of the Food Network.

Chef Henry Perlingine hosted the show, flamboyantly preparing Belgian and Alsatian specialty dishes along with occasional French items. Each week, he'd have a guest on the show. When the show was in it's first seasons, the guests booked by the studio were the typical culinary crowd you would expect: restaurateurs and other chefs, some quite famous in their own right. After a time, some narrow-gauge local celebrities were also making guest appearances. As time passed and the show caught on with a regular audience, he began to land nationally-known entertainers and media personalities.

Perlingine's manner was often confrontational, mimicking the Avant-Garde theater of the 1960s. It was clear to everyone that he was doing this with an ironic sense of humor, and guests were more than happy to go along with the joke. He infused each show with a charismatic dose of personality, and each episode got higher ratings than the last.

He had a drinking problem as well, and was saddled with a mercurial temperament, both of which were not so close to the surface in the first season. By the end of the second season, however, he had begun to drift off into rambling and incoherent diatribes on-camera, sometimes completely losing track of the thread of the show. His behavior was increasingly irrational throughout the second season, culminating at the end of the season's last episode when he struck guest-star Dinah Shore with a mallet.

This behavior gave rise to concern in the producers. It seemed their star was getting a little too deeply into his television persona. Perlingine's management prevailed on him to spend most of the summer of 1995 in a rehab program, and in September he returned to the show apparently refreshed and considerably mellower, ready again to be everybody's favorite kitchen wizard.

For shame, it was not to last. In the third episode of the third season, he threw an iron pan of coquilles St. Jacques at guest Morton Downey Jr. Now, if you remember Morton Downey Jr., you'd be a little suspicious as to why the famously abrasive television personality was cast as a guest with this chef who already was known to snap in the first place. You don't have to be crazy or drunk to want to brain Downey with a pan of seafood. As if this weren't enough, Perlingine then sat down and proceeded to consume a bottle of Burgundy while reading a speech addressed to his estranged wife, Esmeralda, all while on the air. The coquilles never even got finished.

Subsequent episodes saw an increasing decline in Perlingine's mental state. He frequently insulted and threatened guests, and on several occasions he struck them. He would drink during the show, and by the end of an episode he was often so tipsy as to be unable to find the stove. But the ratings soared. Perlingine was billed as "the Howard Stern of Gallic cuisine", and outside the studio the scalpers demanded hundreds of dollars for good seats on days when an unusually resilient or fleet-footed guest was scheduled to appear with their troublesome host. By this time Perlingine had become dependent on injected methamphetamine. Blinded by the ratings, the producers actually persuaded Perlingine's management to keep him out of rehab. This was before things like the Jerry Springer show were known to television, and producers were just waking up to the morbid fascination television audiences had for psychological instability.

Thus passed the winter with few further outbursts, and then, on Thursday, March 3, 1996, the unstable universe of the cooking show at last collapsed. Actress Vanessa Redgrave appeared as that day's guest on the show. For the first quarter of an hour, Perlingine was oddly quiet, and then with shaking hands he extracted a revolver from his toque. Redgrave fled the stage screaming, while Perlingine avidly gave chase. For forty-five minutes, while the cameras rolled and a terrified gaffer attempted without success to complete Perlingine's abandoned souffle, Perlingine stalked Redgrave through the set and the backstage area, and show staff was alarmed to hear him start firing shots! At one point he pursued Redgrave through the audience, firing shots over the mostly abandoned seats. At last as the credits rolled, the police arrived. Perlingine was cornered on the scaffolding above the stage and fatally shot. The show was cancelled immediately, and has not been released into syndication.

So, what can we learn from the fate of Henry Perlingine? If you're a good enough cook, you can be let out on quite long a leash before anybody's had enough of you. But your job as an executive chef is to stop things before they get that far.

Blogs . . . the Hot New Alternative Job Finding Secret!

Description:

Use the blogs to put together a proposal that shows very specifically how you can make a difference. When you do that, you will be light years ahead of your competition!

Content:

Of course you know what blogs are. But did you know they're fast becoming the secret alternative job finding strategy?

It's pretty exciting news. Because if you can master this simple alternative job finding strategy you can blow your job search competition out of the water! Here's how.

First, you know there are all kinds of traditional job search techniques. You've probably tried most of them. You know, like writing and rewriting a resume, mass distributing it to some job sites, emails and regular mail, answering lots of advertised openings, maybe contacting some agencies and recruiters.

If this is what you've been doing, then you also know it takes a lot of time to manage. And a lot of time while you wait for results which can often take weeks and months.

But there is a better way. And a lot faster! It's called the alternative job search system or non-traditional career advancement. It's called "alternative" and "non-traditional" because it bypasses the old-fashioned traditional approaches in favor of strategies that are more consistent with the way employers make hiring decisions and the way jobs are offered TODAY.

There are many exciting alternative job search strategies. Most of them are outlined in the non-traditional career advancement bible: "The World's Fastest Alternative Job Search System!" When you master these simple strategies you can be entertaining job offers in as little as two weeks.

One of these exciting alternative strategies is learning how to use blogs to identify organizations that are consistent with your job search goals. And even more specifically, discover the names of hiring decision-makers who could be your next boss.

It's worth taking the time to sift through the amazing variety of blogs to find the gems that are loaded with industry-based news, information, tips, observations, philosophy, gossip and, yes, even jobs. Company blogs are often loaded with useful information about company expansion, new product development and introduction.

The reason this information is so useful is because it becomes the basis for targeting a selection of decision-makers you want to approach. Under the new rules of alternative job search, your immediate goal is NOT to write and rewrite a resume. But to put together a portfolio of carefully thought out benefits you bring to an organization going forward and answers to the hot-button issues an employer would like hear from someone he/she is interested in bringing on board as a member of the team.

So, don't waste your time blowing your horn about what you used to do for someone else. Employers ultimately really don't care. Instead, use the blogs to put together a proposal that shows very specifically how you can make a difference. When you do that, you will be light years ahead of your competition!

Police Career - How to Keep Police Stress Syndrome From Taking Over Your Life

Description:

The law enforcement profession is legendary for its high stress. It is repeatedly in the top ten of most stressful jobs. And there's nothing like police work to make a candidate for 'bringing your work home with you', because you naturally encounter things on the job that take some processing in the off hours to deal with.

Content:

The law enforcement profession is legendary for its high stress. It is repeatedly in the top ten of most stressful jobs. And there's nothing like police work to make a candidate for 'bringing your work home with you', because you naturally encounter things on the job that take some processing in the off hours to deal with.

The first tip is to lose the macho exterior. As John Wayne said, courage isn't not being scared. Courage is being scared as heck - and saddling up anyway. Acknowledge that you have picked a tough job to do, and that you're only too human. Expecting huge reserves of guts from yourself, going around denying it by saying, "It doesn't bother me.", this doesn't help you psychologically work with and move past the issue. Being able to face the fact of stress helps you vent it to your peers (or doctor, if need be), and move past it on your own.

Second, it may be perfectly OK to have a drink when you feel like it. But if you find yourself stopping for a drink every single day after you get off your shift, that's a big trouble sign. Police work has one of the most frequent instances of alcoholism, with police more likely to develop alcoholism than nearly every other profession. The problem is not so much the alcoholism itself, as that after a while it becomes your automatic answer to everything. Anything, even water, is bad for you if you do it too much. The key is to moderate. By all means, if you just went through a scene where weapons were drawn and you need a drink to stop your nerves shaking, that's a different matter.

Don't take it personally. This especially applies to the pressure you get from the top. No matter what, every officer feels they deserved that raise or promotion every time it comes around. Every officer gets frustrated when they see another not doing his or her job with perfect ethics, or feel stressed out at the inherent inadequacies of the system. These are natural problems, but if they didn't happen to you, they'd just happen to somebody else. It just happened to you this time. An officer's career is likely to have many ups and downs, and officers do tend to experience emotional drama over things that affect their career. It's just how things go sometimes.

Take a step back from the monoculture. After a while, officers tend to identify so much with their job and their peers that they become unable to see things from any other perspective. You do do an important job, but the human mind just isn't designed to exist in a continuously shrinking frame of reference and the full-blown cynicism that comes with it. Try to get out when you can, keep socializing in your civilian life, stay current with the culture. Maybe have a hobby or interest that takes you far away from the job. It helps you remember that the whole world isn't one huge drama, and that there's still a lot of things worth living for.

Take advantage of your force's stress management and counseling services. No matter how tough you think you are, the procedures and practices your department puts in place are there for a reason. Employee assistance programs were put in place to respond to the high incidents of stress disorders affecting officers in the field. Especially after a critical incident, you are, indeed, either in shock or dealing with some stage of grief. Even if you think you can handle things just fine on your own, talking to the councilor never hurt anything.

Learn when the time comes not to sweat the details. Police work seems to bring out the perfectionist nature. After all, attention to detail is a survival skill. Not only that, but you're surrounded by perfectionists. Your peers and superiors all had the same rigorous training you did, and there's still a little drill sergeant left in everybody from their academy days. But going around expecting everything to be perfect all the time is just unrealistic. We do live in an imperfect world, which is why you have your job, after all.

Revel in your family. The families of officers receive a lot of residual stress from your job; it's tough for them, too. If you have a spouse and kids, there's almost no limit to how much time you should spend with them, and it helps all of you keep a stronger family unit. Family problems are another famous occupational hazard of police work. Most especially infidelity is a frequent result. You should realize that serial affairs, like alcoholism, are just another escape mechanism that is likely to have you mentally trapped. It doesn't even necessarily help if your spouse is also an officer; what you actually need is the perspective of somebody who doesn't wear a uniform every day.

The bottom line is, police work is a special job that is prone to some of the greatest challenges of any profession. You are in the role of trying to be a hero to society, but don't forget to be a hero for yourself.

Get Rich Quick Scams RevealedRead this article before you consider paying for a "get rich quick" program.
From: Novel WritingEverybody would love to make lots of money quickly, working from home, and only doing a few hours of work per week. I've spent the past two years trying to find a great way of doing this. Only over the course of the past few months have I found any "get rich quick" programs worth buying. I've been trying to make money online for a long time. I had a few small websites, but they never made much more than a few hundred per month. It was easy money and didn't require much work on my part, but I knew there were people out there doing better than I was and I knew I could do as well as them. Now, I've seen a lot of "get rich quick" programs. Most of these people make claims about earning $2000/day with Google or something similarly insane. Almost all of these people are complete liars. Even if they were making $2000/day with Google AdSense, it'd be because they had high- traffic websites with a lot of quality content. I'd know, because in one whole month, I never even made half of what they promised I'd make daily with their programs. Maybe you've already been scammed by one of these fraudsters. Anyway, I finally got sick of what was being offered. I decided I'd look through the all of the "get rich quick" programs I could find and see if there were any that were actually legitimate. I found that there were owners selling their programs for well over $100, but the information in them could be found almost anywhere online for free. Additionally, they all contained out-of-date information, had no e-mail support, no money back guarantees, and broken links in the downloads section. In conclusion, almost all of the programs I found were completely useless. The owners knew it, but they couldn't care less about their customers since they didn't offer refund policies! Amazingly, while looking through all of the programs, I actually did find a few legitimate programs. They were run by ordinary people like you and me, and they had found some great methods of making money from their home by doing very little work. I spent some time working with those programs, and my income is now ten times what it used to be. These programs provided a large amount of great information on how to make extra money on your computer doing very little work. Numerous customers had provided great feedback and reviews for their products. Many of them have started to make money just days after buying! Their programs have excellent prices, and the authors have a group of paid staff who are dedicating to helping you or providing assistance if you need any. I must say I was amazed! If you do decide to purchase any of the programs listed below, I recommend you join quickly. Most of the owners tell me they are getting an overwhelming number of sales and plan on raising prices in the near future, so order while prices are still low! To Your Online Success, Novel Writing

7 Deadly Mistakes to Avoid When Running an Online Business (part 1)

Description:

If you are already taking action to run an internet business, is it working out the way it should be?

Content:

If you are already taking action to run an internet business, is it working out the way it should be?

If your answer is "no", then are you sidetracking from the basics? Are you distracted by temptations in the world wide web? Are you tapping the niche market?

Which ever the reasons may be and if you are new to starting or already running a business on the web, you can shortcut your way to success by avoiding the 7 deadly mistakes below:

1. Wrong/Lack of Focus

Getting into the internet business is indeed a very exciting experience. However, being overly excited by the many things one can do with the internet, will become overloaded with information causing the likelihood to lose focus. This is the number one killer to building a successful online business. Temptations of trying out the many tools on the website that is offering can also exhaust, increase your expense and worst of all rob your time away from your main goal.

The key here is to stay focus. Draft a plan and stick to it conscientiously. Adjust your plan to steer towards your goal. List out the main tasks, plan the amount of time you should invest for each of the task and follow them closely. For example, you may want to spend a certain amount of time in researching the market of products or services that are niche. Many of the online tools are good to have. Keep away from spending too much time in the deeper aspects of technicalities such as enhancing fanciful feature in javascripts (unless you are planning to sell a product in this area that you want to explore). Outsource time-consuming tasks with a small amount of money to expedite the process is a good option.

Tips: The best product or service will not sell without a good marketing plan. Most of your time and effort should go into researching the right market, the correct marketing strategy and refining the marketing system.

How Well are We Preparing the Next Generation?

Description:

In a word: Lousy!

Content:

Tim Bryce

"There is only one problem with common sense; it's not very common."
- Bryce's Law

We've got some very bright and ambitious young people joining the work force now but they are coming at a very different time in the business world. Thanks to technology, we now live and work in a much faster paced society than what I joined just three short decades ago. It is also a much more competitive environment due to changing economic conditions. True, the Greatest Generation has basically moved along, but the Baby Boomers are still firmly in place and are not inclined to retire any time soon. This means the class of 2007 will be competing not only with people in their 20's, 30's and 40's, but also with people in their 50's and 60's who cannot afford to retire.

This got me thinking about how well we are preparing the next generation of workers. Are we really training them to succeed or are we setting them up to fail? Sure, they might be well educated in their professional area of expertise, but I am finding a remarkable number who lack basic street smarts. Somewhere between the safety of home and school, and the bitter realities of the real world, a void exists in preparing our youth for adulthood. In a way its like being a parachutist for the first time, except you are being pushed out the door with no instruction on what to do. This can be very traumatizing to young people who tend to be overwhelmed by the responsibilities of adult life.

In school, students were only concerned with attending class, absorbing the material, eating and their social life. But now in adulthood, they suddenly have to face such things as insurance, taxes, housing, transportation, banking, investments, retirement accounts, health care, nutrition, paying bills, corporate cultures, etiquette, dress, career development, business ethics, office politics, networking, employment, management, etc. Oh yea, and Work. They may have been adequately trained for their profession, but nobody is preparing them to make the transition into adulthood.

The parents haven't prepared them. If anything, they have sheltered their youth from reality for far too long. For example, many kids today have not had to mow a lawn, clean a dish, push a broom, or hold a part-time job. Instead, they were free to concentrate on their homework and video games. In other words, parents have failed to instill the concept of simple responsibility and the value of a dollar. A lot of parents today are "hands-off" meaning they are content to let others raise their children for them, be it a relative, a nanny, a coach, or a teacher, thereby providing them with some free time to rest and relax.

The teachers haven't prepared them either, but in their defense this shouldn't be in their job description. Instead, they should be concerned with teaching academic subjects, such as math, literature, languages, science, etc. However, since a lot of parents have dropped the ball, teachers have been forced to become surrogate parents, something they are not necessarily trained in or suited for.

Ultimately, this means today's corporate managers are inheriting a generation of naive young people with unbridled enthusiasm who are having difficulty adapting to the corporate world. Many of this generation seem to believe they are uniquely different, that the old established rules of today's corporate culture no longer applies to them; that corporations must adapt to them, not the other way around. Such naivety can be dangerous and lead to their demise as reality sets in.

To overcome this problem, perhaps we can help our youth by devising a new type of curriculum that would teach such things as:

* Personal Organization - e.g., managing finances, insurance, housing, transportation, etc.

* Adapting to the Corporate Culture - how to understand the culture and adapt to it. This would include discussions on business ethics, and studying change.

* Professional Development - teaching concepts of craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and basic business skills.

* Social Skills - how to effectively communicate and socialize in an office environment.

* Do's and Don'ts in the Workplace - discussing the realities of employment, company policy manuals, and other legal issues.

* Management 101 - teaching basic management concepts and rules to help "newbies" fit into the corporate culture.

Actually, none of this is new. We have all had to learn it through the School of Hard Knocks. However, if the next generation is to ever have a chance in today's fast paced world, we have to jump-start this process for them. Otherwise they will have difficulty surviving. Basically, what is needed is just some simple parental advice.

If you would like to discuss this with me in more depth, please do not hesitate to send me an e-mail.

Keep the faith.

Lean Logistics Staffing to Overcome High Energy Costs

Description:

ProLogistix Devises Lean Logistics Staffing To Overcome High Energy Costs

Content:

In the July issue of Business Excellence, manufacturing journalist, TR Cutler, addressed “Lean Logistics,” and the article may be read in its entirety at http://trcutlerinc.com/Lean%20Logistics%20July%202007%20Business%20Excellence.pdf.

“For distributors to maintain margins and survive these much higher energy costs require a commitment to continued process improvement and lean principles,” says Brian Devine, vice-president of ProLogistix (www.prologistix.com). “The impact of rising energy costs on the supply chain requires better methods than beating suppliers for cost reductions which do not pay in the long run, and passing costs along to customers is not a viable option. The only viable solution for the distribution supply chain is to achieve higher levels of personnel efficiency, coordination, planning and productivity.”

While even the most skilled logistics professional cannot avoid passing a portion of mounting fuel surcharges along to customers, distributors can arm themselves with staffing expertise to mitigate the increased costs. Optimizing routing selection requires experienced lean logistics professionals and represents an opportunity for significant cost savings. Inexperienced staffers might have flown an order to achieve expedient on-time delivery, when in fact the same result to the customer could have been achieved by hiring a driver to transport the package overnight for a tenth the cost of air transport.

Experienced logistics personnel are able to recommend ways in which distributors can consolidate their shipments, as well as use more cost-effective transportation alternatives to reduce spending related to fuel charges. “One of the most useful tools to help our customers,” says Devine, “is to place strategic logistics experts who are able to interpret the information which accumulates in ordering behavior, often uncovering purchasing patterns that lend themselves to substantial money-saving techniques. The idea of hiring the least expensive warehouse personnel always costs distributors more in the end because lack of experience has a price. Seasoned logistics professionals have already learned from their mistakes and while their per-hour rate is greater, wisdom, experience, and knowledge translates into the example of continued process improvement in action.”

When lean logistics professionals perform an account review it will often reveal that the customer’s embedded release program automatically schedules orders to the distributor based on preset production requirement parameters which permit opportunities to consolidate shipments. Bypassing the embedded instructions, logistics strategists make sure customers still get everything they need, when they need it, at a single freight cost versus multiple shipments.

Another cost-saving through best logistics hiring practices is in consolidating employees in the inbound and outbound logistics groups, often resulting in a single, smaller team. Typical same-day shipments improve as much as 40 percent with fewer staff through improvements in hiring efficiencies.

Necessity being the mother of invention, rising fuel costs mean that distributors must develop inventive new methods to reduce costs that will benefit the supply chain in the future, regardless of the price per barrel. “It’s the nature of the logistics profession to aggressively explore ways to reduce spending, while maintaining high service levels,” says Devine. “The most important lean techniques employed by distributors are found in a team of experienced lean logistics professionals, temporary or permanent, who will continue to benefit customers regardless of energy costs.”

Researchers had a lot of difficulty in determining the exact what leads to the bacterial vaginosis. The treatment and the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis are not that simple to identify and eliminate the single sort of bacteria. The Bacteria combine up together to infect, which is unidentified.

Helpful Hiring Hints

Description:

Hiring the right candidate for the position is just like any other decision. The better you can define the desired outcome, the easier it will be for you and your team to find the best candidate to help you achieve the desired outcome.

Content:

Robert E. Cannon

At a recent industry meeting, one of the speakers focused on Human Resource Issues. One area of particular interest to everyone there had to do with Hiring. Virtually everyone in attendance had made a bad hiring decision at one time or another and fully knew the high cost of a bad hire. The speaker advised that it had been his experience that most executives spend too little time preparing for interviews with perspective employees. He went on to say that most executives utilize the same questions for every interview, regardless of the position. He believes that the above practices in part explain the poor hiring results.

In the past, I would have agreed with the speaker, but over the years, I have learned a couple of techniques that have helped me improve my results. Hopefully, you will find these to be as helpful to you as they have been to me.

Hint #1. Prior to contacting the first candidate, perform a 360◦ interview with everyone who will interact with this position. Ask everyone to provide as many responses as possible to the open ended statement, “Our organization needs a person who…” Once you have collected this information place them all on a list and ask each person to pick those 12 responses that are most important for the person who will hold this position. Once you have narrowed the choices to the top 12, you then have a road map for what it will take to be successful in this position.

Hint #2. Take the list from above and preface it with the statement, “I am a person who…” and ask each candidate look at the original list and pick those 12 responses where they feel they are strongest. Even better is to ask the candidate to have several associates check 12 items that best describe them and mail that information directly to you. The closer you can match the candidate to your needs, the greater the likelihood of success.

Hint #3. All too often candidates may know how something should be done, but don’t always utilize what they know. Rather than asking hypothetical questions, ask questions where you expect the candidate to give you examples from their experience. The following are some examples for your consideration.

1. Tell us about a time when you were successful as a leader and what that was like.

2. Now tell us about a time when you weren’t successful and what you learned from the experience.

3. Give us examples of how you challenge and inspire people to take up a cause. It might be staff, outside services or even at home.

4. Give us examples of how your listening skills and delegation have come into play in your style of leadership.

5. When did you go into a situation with a preconceived notion and came out the other end with a different answer.

6. Cite examples of your leadership role in a crisis.

7. Describe a couple of significant times when you were effective in dealing with conflict.

8. Intersperse questions asking the candidate to give you examples of how they demonstrated their strength in each of the 12 areas of greatest importance as determined by your 360◦ exercise.

Hiring the right candidate for the position is just like any other decision. The better you can define the desired outcome, the easier it will be for you and your team to find the best candidate to help you achieve the desired outcome.

Job Trend News: Home and Workplace Blur

Content:

New job trends can make a huge difference in your career advancement. Staying on top of the latest job trends can mean a faster and more lucrative career move.

For example, we're all familiar with the trend of working from home--at least for a few hours a week. Many computer-driven businesses are seeing productivity advances by encouraging certain types of work from home.

Well there is another trend that can impact your job . . . bringing the advantages of home to the workplace.

Many organizations are taking the best aspects of home and incorporating them into the workplace. They are recognizing that work is becoming home for many employees.

For instance, 46 of the 100 best companies offer take-home meals to liberate workers from having to cook dinner. Or how about this: 26 of those 100 companies offer personal concierge services. This allows employees to outsource the details of buying flowers and birthday presents . . . or planning anniversary parties or bar mitzvahs.

Why?

Organizations are finding that providing such options makes bottom line sense:

1. It's all part of the ongoing search for top talent. Offering these amenities is proving to be a strong recruitment tool.

2. It's all about productivity. Companies find that they can relieve employees' anxieties. Providing services or managing events that could distract them from their work focus increases their productivity.

You owe it to yourself to check these trends out. They may already exist with your current employer. But if you're in the job market, negotiating these items can give your personal bottom line a serious boost.

For some reason, if you are reading this article, you are not yet a victim to one of the above mentioned causes of deaths worldwide. With over 56 million deaths each year, that’s 155,000 people a day, the causes of death can happen to just about anyone. You tend to wonder if the things we worry about are really worth worrying about. You got fired at work, so what? at least you are not dead.

Die! and you don’t have to worry about being fired from work. The truth of the matter is we are all going to die. Maybe not of starvation because you are not living in a poverty stricken country, but that does not mean that you couldn’t die from a car accident, unplanned accident, disease, heart attack, plane crash or in your sleep. Isn’t it amazing? If this is the case, what on earth are you worried about.

Fear of losing? you will lose it all when you die. Fear of failure? your heart will fail someday, Fear of rejection? your body will someday reject the will to live on. Fear of pain? I hear it actually hurts a bit when you die. Fear of loneliness? when you die, I am sure you die alone, no one else will be coming with you. They may watch you die, but you are going alone.

Knowing all these, don’t you think it’s time you let go of your fears and live a lot. Find meaning to life by finding your purpose in life, connect with nature and find spiritual freedom, clear your conscience of guilt, worry, regret and pain because they don’t live here no more.

Live for today, plan for tomorrow and leave a legacy for others to follow. Make 2007 a year to let go and let live. Discover - Grow - Enjoy - Share - Love - Appreciate - Be Grateful and Leave a Legacy.

Whilst many people are making vast amounts of money online, don’t be fooled into thinking it is an easy way to get rich.

However, home internet business owners probably all agree that there are many reasons why they would never work for a boss again despite the degree of difficulty in achieving real online success.

Furthermore, with the right Internet Business your risk can be minimized and, if you want to test the waters before committing fully, it can be started on a part time basis to start with.

Following is a list of requirements that need to be considered for your Internet Business to become a successful Money Making Business.

• Domain Name

Before you do anything else, get your internet business off to a good start by registering a memorable domain name as soon as possible. Don't settle for a freebie as it will hurt your search engine rankings and your business' credibility.

• Web Hosting

It is extremely important that you sign up with a reliable web hosting company that provides you with the required space and band width.

An unreliable web hosting service can cause you a lot of pain and lost sales. Some have been known to close shop overnight without any prior notice, leaving you without a web presence, no email facility and no web site.

• Website

Whilst it is not always an absolute requirement to have your own website, it is often useful to have one in order to portray your online business in the way that you want.

If you are not a web designer or you have little knowledge of html, php or css coding, the quickest way to establish a professional online presence is to get a well designed template that can be customized to your business' look and feel.

• Great Ideas for your Home based Internet Business

One of the biggest hurdles for first time entrepreneurs is to come up with a viable business idea.

However, when it comes to an Internet Business there are ideas aplenty - here are some of the best!

1. Become an Affiliate

This is one of the most popular and easiest ways of earning money on the internet, with or without your own website

This is how you do it WITH your own a WEBSITE

i. Register a domain

ii. Sign up with a reliable hosting company

iii. Get a suitably designed website

iv. Sign up with an affiliate network

v. Identify the products you want to market

vi. Customize your website template and embed your affiliate link into the webpages

vii. Upload (ftp) your completed site onto the internet - your webhost will show you how to do this

viii. Do everything you can to send traffic to your site and hopefully your site visitors will start buying your products and you'll start earning affiliate commissions.

To find out How to do it WITHOUT a WEBSITE go to: http://www.income.za.net/home_internet_business.htm

In conclusion remember that whilst the great benefits of having an online business (low overhead, inexpensive advertising and a global reach) can generate massive income streams, you will only realize a high level of personal and financial freedom if you take action now and remain positive and driven throughout the process.

Seven Scary Reasons Not To Start A Home Based Business

Description:

SEVEN SCARY reasons why people shy away from starting their own home based business and SEVEN SIMPLE steps to help you overcome those fears.

Content:

Thinking of starting a home based business can be a scary affair. After the thrill of getting that brilliant idea, it's usually in that first battle with the mind that people lose and give up. Our minds are terribly good at looking at the down side of things. Here are SEVEN SCARY reasons why people shy away from starting their own home based business and SEVEN SIMPLE steps to help you overcome those fears.

Fear of failure and making mistakes.
Nobody like's making mistakes and failing, especially if it concerns something major like starting a home based business. That's why many people take the easy way out and quit. After all, if you don't try, then you won't fail.

Fear of change.
Running a home based business (any business for that matter) often forces you to change and improve your attitude, working style, personal preferences and bad habits. Unfortunately, most of us would rather accept the problems we DO know than the possibilities we DON'T. We're often caught in a comfort zone - and it cripples our dreams and limits our potential!

Fear of commitment and responsibility
In many ways, it's easier to work for someone else. You needn't worry about the thousands of details that your boss has to consider. A home based business is a guaranteed crash course in commitment and responsibility! There is NO running away from the boss, NO hiding from the customers and NO switching off your mind after work!

Fear of hard work.
When we first started our home catering business, I had LOTS of problems adapting. I went from being a web developer in long sleeves and tie in a nice comfy office to an apron in a hot, stuffy kitchen, cleaning and chopping chicken, meat, fish and veggie, scrubbing the kitchen, pot, pans and stove, taking out tons of garbage and well... you get the idea... Yes, there were days when I was tempted to give all this hard work!

Fear of success.
I've got to be honest - one of the major reasons I shied away from starting my own home based business for so long was the fear of success! It seemed so much easier to just be my old self, holding on to my old goals. Mediocrity is a whole lot easier to achieve than success. I feared having to face ALL the seven scary reasons listed here!

Fear of competition.
You may be worried about competitors but the truth is that when you're a newbie, the big boys probably won't notice you. It's when you've been around for a while and maybe when some of their customers have made their way to you that they begin noticing. The good thing is that by then, you should have gained sufficient experience and be savvy enough to stand your own ground.

Fear of uncertainty.
No doubt about it. Running a home based business WILL mean lots of uncertainties, but isn't it be better knowing YOU were in control of these uncertainties instead of your boss or someone you don't even know?

Okay... that was pretty nasty medicine. Reality always is. Now that we've faced seven scary reasons not to start a home based business, here are seven simple steps to overcome them...

Reality check!
Know yourself - what you're good at and what you're not. Know what drives you and what you're passionate about. Starting a home based business around what you do best is the easiest way to start.

Do your homework
Find out everything you can about the business you want to start. Visit the library. Scour the Internet. Ask people who are already doing it or have done it. Mind you, make sure they've been successful at it, otherwise they're going to lead you in the wrong direction.

Don't walk with turkeys
You can't fly with eagles when you keep walking with turkeys! Every negative word you hear (from turkeys) will scribble its way into your subconscious. If you keep company with turkeys, your hopes and dreams are probably going to end up burnt to a crisp and served on the thanksgiving table.

Fly with eagles
Keep company with eagles - positive people who know what it takes to make dreams come true! Keep your heart and mind fixed on your goal. If you're sure your home based business is workable, then find ways to work it! Seek guidance and support from the eagles in your life. Never be afraid to ask questions and seek help.

Make your dreams real
The best way to do this is to write down every dream or idea you have. Writing them down makes your dreams something tangible you can see and work on. Vocalize your dream. Visualize yourself reaching your goal. Make sure you jealously guard your dreams against negative thoughts and words.

Small steps
When you think of how BIG a problem or task is, you give yourself BIG worries! Break every problem into smaller tasks and solve them one by one. Remember... to move a mountain, you do it one stone at a time, one rock at a time, one boulder at a time.

Persistence and patience
If a dream is worth dreaming, it's worth struggling for. Problems WILL arise but remember that every problem is an opportunity for you to learn to become stronger, smarter and more resilient. Take every problem in stride and keep your eyes fixed on your goal.

There you have it folks - SEVEN SCARY REASONS that may be preventing you from becoming a successful home based business owner and SEVEN SIMPLE STEPS to help you overcome them! Success comes one step at a time - cheers!

Among the many opportunities available today to work at home is the field of medical transcription. However, many people are unfamiliar with what medical transcription entails.

Medical transcription is a highly specialized job whether it's done at home or not. As such, anyone who wishing to earn a medical transcription job will need certain kinds of skills and training. It is a legitimate career, not a get-rich-quick scheme. The ads that advertise a medical transcription job, working from home, and claiming the job requires virtually no skills, no experience, with instant cash returns are not truthful ads. Most likely they're scams aiming to separate honest people from their money.

The Job

Medical transcription is a real job with real responsibilities requiring the use of real skills. It is not unskilled labor like stuffing envelopes or assembling items. The work at home job of someone in medical transcription is that of a medical language specialist. This means that part of the responsibility as a medical transcription employee is to interpret and transcribe dictation by medical professionals.

As a medical transcription employee, the most common task will likely be handling dictation. These dictations can cover pretty much everything that takes place between the health care provider and the patient. All the information needed is usually recorded either into an audio tape or onto digital voice processing systems. The job therefore is to transfer this information into written form using a word processor.

Medical transcription can certainly pay well. However, it doesn't come without work. As stated earlier in this article, working at home in medical transcription is no simple matter. It is not something that can be learned in four or six weeks. There are, fortunately for those interested, several training programs out there that specialize in medical transcription.

The Skills

When deciding to take a home medical transcription job, there is a general set of skills that will be needed. First, there is keyboarding skill. Since medical transcription deals mostly with typing, data entry skills will be necessary. Grammar and spelling skills are also important; since medical transcription focuses more upon getting the dictation transferred into an accessible written form. Mistakes in either spelling or grammar challenge accessibility. High retention will also be important as the primary job in medical transcription is recording information.

In most cases, companies like to hire people with previous in-house experience for their medical transcription jobs working from home. This means that before they will hire someone to work at home they want to be assured that person has worked in medical transcription in a hospital or clinic. In fact, many of these companies require at least a year or two of experience working for the medical community from their applicants.

In order to assure getting a home medical transcription job, first obtaining the necessary experience is therefore advisable. If there are concerns about not getting the job because of a lack of experience a possible solution would be to do volunteer work. Many organizations are frequently looking for volunteers in medical transcription, allowing someone starting out to gain valuable experience towards landing a good job.
